Judging Criteria for 2/10/24 In House Tournament
Patterns
Judges will score patterns on a scale or 1-10. A score of 1-5 indicates the competitor did not finish their pattern. A score of 10 indicates a perfect pattern. No 10s will be awarded. The Ring Coordinator will add all judges' scores. The competitor with the highest total score will win.
Patterns will be judged on the following criteria, in order;
Board Breaking
Judges will score board breaking on a scale or 1-10. A score of 1-5 indicates the competitor did not break any boards. A score of 10 indicates all boards were broken on the first try and all chosen breaks were of the highest difficulty possible. No 10s will be awarded. The Ring Coordinator will add all judges' scores. The competitor with the highest total score will win.
Board breaks will be judged on the following criteria, in order;
Green Belts and above will be provided with 5 boards for up to 3 breaks.
Competitors are not required to use all provided boards.
A single break may break two different boards as long as they are part of the same station.
White Belts and Color Belts who do not break after three tries will be asked to move on to their next break.
Black Belts who do not break after two tries will be asked to move on to their next break.
Sparring
1 Point will be awarded to a competitor for each instance of significant contact (a strike that moves their opponent). Contact is allowed to the front and sides of the chest guard only. At the end of two rounds, the competitor with the highest score will win.
Warnings will be given for:
Sparring will be conducted in two rounds. Black Belts will spar for 90-second rounds with a 30-second break in between. Color Belts will spar for 60-second rounds with a 30-second break in between.
A chest guard and mouth guard are required for all competitors, a cup is required for all males. Any competitors without the required gear will not be allowed to participate in sparring.
The head judge will count score and confer with the referee after each round.

- Consistency of stances
- Power and focus
- Tempo

- Difficulty of the breaks attempted.

- Contact to the head, back, or below the belt.
- Leaving the ring.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Acquiring 3 warnings in a single match.
- Excessive or malicious contact to illegal areas.
- Extreme unsportsmanlike conduct.
