​​​PROMOTION TEST PREPARATION
testing for Red Belt with 1st and 2nd Black Stripes

Final decisions on testing readiness will be made by Masters Marr, Bayless, and Bayless-Marr.  Forms will be handed out to those deemed ready starting two weeks before the scheduled test.

To be eligible to test for your 1st and 2nd Black Stripes, you must have completed a minimum of 30 classes before the test, and be able to confidently demonstrate:
  • Hwarang
  • ​Downward knifehand strike
  • L stance punches
  • Rear elbow strike
  • Low block in L stance
  • Front turning kick with ball of the foot
  • Single upset punch​
  • Reverse turning kick
  • 1st Stripe: lead leg side kick (2 boards) & hammerfist or elbow strike (1 board)
  • 2nd Stripe: back kick (2 boards) & punch or palm strike (1 board)
  • Retention of all previous material
Demonstrate the following stances and know the correct dimensions (length, width, and weight distribution):
            a)  Walking Stance
            b)  L Stance
            c)  Sitting Stance
            d)  Rear Foot Stance
            e)  Vertical Stance
            f)  X Stance
