Qigong was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It uses slow gentle movements to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, to improve and maintain health and well-being. Among its many benefits are lower blood pressure, improved mobility and balance, more restful sleep, stronger respiratory and circulatory systems.
Qigong is a great complement to other forms of exercise, as well as a low impact alternative for older adults. The gentle but powerful exercises are easy to learn and practice and do not require special equipment or clothing.
This series of five classes will take place at 16720 Chagrin Boulevard, 2nd floor, in Shaker Heights. It is an intermediate level class for those with previous experience in Qigong.
Ana María Carrillo has been practicing a combination of Tai Chi and Qigong for many years, holding certifications from both Holden Qigong and the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi. She is also a practicing psychologist, giving her unique insight into the mental health benefits of Qigong.
Registration in advance is required. Five-week series ($75) or single class ($20) payment options are available.
